Frankfurt am Main, March 19, 2025 – Sage, a leading provider of specialized SMB solutions for accounting, finance, ERP, HR management, and payroll, is introducing a new version of Sage Active. The cloud solution for accounting and business management offers enhanced AI capabilities, customization options, and targeted partner integrations. These updates help small businesses work smarter and grow faster.
Across Europe, small businesses are increasingly adopting AI and digital tools to boost productivity and drive growth. According to Sage’s latest study, “Small Business, Big Opportunity,” half (50%) of small businesses in surveyed European markets see productivity gains as the biggest benefit of investing in AI. Two-thirds (67%) believe AI is critical or very important for revenue growth. In response, Sage Active delivers new AI-powered insights and automation features that help small businesses make better decisions, reduce administrative workload, and increase financial visibility.
With the latest updates, Sage Copilot, the AI-powered assistant integrated into Sage Active, provides instant balance sheet analysis and real-time insights into a company’s financial health. This allows small businesses to quickly identify strengths and weaknesses, improve decision-making, and drive growth.
Sage Copilot has also been enhanced to improve quote and invoice analysis, giving small businesses more control over their financial processes. With the ability to adjust the time range of filtered documents, companies can now send quotes and payment reminders more efficiently. This improves cash flow management and reduces administrative effort.
“Small businesses and accountants need technology that grows with them and delivers practical solutions to save time and improve accuracy,” said Neal Watkins, EVP for Accounting and HR at Sage. “These new AI-driven enhancements allow business owners to focus on growth and reduce admin work, while giving accountants deeper insights to better support their clients.”
The latest updates to Sage Active highlight the company’s commitment to evolving with customer needs and supporting small businesses across Europe. To further support growth, Sage has expanded Sage Active’s accounting capabilities with performance metrics and strengthened seamless integrations with partner solutions such as E-Bilanz+, ePages, N2F, and Sage 50 Handwerk to better address industry-specific requirements.
For example, integration with E-Bilanz+ enables fully electronic submission to tax authorities—independent of tax advisors and without media disruption. Through ePages, e-commerce data can be automatically synced with accounting, significantly reducing the workload for online retailers. N2F helps businesses process expense reports, while Sage Handwerk is designed specifically for service providers and trades with dedicated features for project and job planning.
At the same time, new performance metrics in the Sage Active dashboard—such as return on sales, return on investment, and return on equity—give small businesses a clear view of profitability and financial health.
With the latest Sage Active updates, businesses can:
Create smarter, customizable sales documents – Enhanced templates support more professional, brand-consistent communication.
Manage payments more effectively – Handling prepayments and tracking quotes and invoices is now easier, saving time and improving cash flow visibility.
Simplify onboarding for new customers – Improved data import and onboarding support help businesses get started quickly and maximize Sage Active from day one.
“The introduction of Sage Copilot in Sage Active is a game changer for us,” said Xavier Macao, Administrative Manager at CCJ Carrelage. “With automatic reminders, we save two minutes per invoice—it’s now just one click. That adds up quickly and gives us more time to focus on our business.”
Sage’s mission is to break down barriers so everyone can thrive, especially in challenging times. This is particularly true for the millions of small and medium-sized businesses supported by Sage and its partners. Customers rely on Sage’s systems to increase transparency and enable more flexible and efficient processes across accounting, business management, and HR. By digitizing business processes and relationships, Sage’s network connects SMBs and helps them access relevant information faster and operate more efficiently.
