Frankfurt am Main, 19 March 2025 – Sage, a leading provider of specialised SME solutions for accounting, finance, ERP, HR management and payroll, is introducing a new version of Sage Active. The cloud solution for accounting and business management offers enhanced AI capabilities, customisation options and targeted partner integrations. These innovations will help small businesses work more intelligently and grow faster.
Across Europe, small businesses are increasingly adopting AI and digital tools to improve productivity and drive growth. According to Sage’s latest study, “Small Business, Big Opportunity”, half (50%) of small businesses in the surveyed European markets see productivity gains as the biggest benefit of investing in AI. Two thirds (67%) believe AI is critical or very important for revenue growth. In response to this growing demand, Sage Active now delivers new AI-based insights and automation features that help small businesses make better decisions, reduce administrative workload and increase financial transparency.
With the latest updates, Sage Copilot, the AI-powered assistant integrated into Sage Active, provides instant balance sheet analysis and real-time insights into a company’s financial health. This enables small businesses to quickly identify strengths and weaknesses, optimise decision-making and drive growth.
Sage Copilot has also been enhanced to improve quote and invoice analysis, giving small businesses greater control over their financial processes. With the ability to adjust the time range of filtered documents, companies can now send quotes and payment reminders more efficiently. This improves cash flow management and reduces administrative effort.
“Small businesses and accountants need technologies that grow with them and provide practical solutions to save time and improve accuracy,” says Neal Watkins, EVP for Accounting and HR at Sage. “These new AI-based enhancements enable business owners to focus on growth and reduce administrative tasks, while giving accountants deeper insights into the business to better support their clients.”
The latest updates to Sage Active underline the company’s commitment to evolving in line with customer needs and supporting small businesses across Europe. To further drive business growth, Sage has expanded the accounting scope of Sage Active with performance indicators and strengthened seamless integrations with partner solutions such as E-Bilanz+, ePages, N2F and Sage 50 Handwerk to better meet industry-specific requirements.
For example, integration with E-Bilanz+ enables fully electronic submission to tax authorities—independent of tax advisors and without media disruption. Through ePages, e-commerce data can be automatically linked with accounting, significantly reducing the workload for online retailers. N2F supports businesses in processing expense reports, while Sage Handwerk is tailored specifically to service providers and trades with dedicated features for project and resource planning.
At the same time, the new performance indicators in the Sage Active dashboard—such as return on sales, return on investment and return on equity—give small businesses a clear overview of their profitability and financial health.
With the latest Sage Active updates, businesses can:
Create smarter, customisable sales documents – Enhanced templates enable small businesses to ensure more professional, brand-consistent customer communication.
Manage payments more effectively – Managing prepayments and recording quotes and invoices is now easier than ever, saving time and improving cash flow transparency.
Simplify onboarding of new customers – Improved data import features and onboarding support for products help small businesses get started quickly and unlock the full potential of Sage Active from day one.
“The introduction of Sage Copilot in Sage Active is a game changer for us,” says Xavier Macao, Administrative Manager at CCJ Carrelage. “With automatic reminders, we save two minutes per invoice—now it’s just one click and it’s done. That adds up quickly, and we now have more time to focus on our business.”
Sage’s mission is to break down barriers so everyone can thrive, especially in challenging times. This is particularly true for the millions of small and medium-sized businesses supported by Sage and its partners. Customers rely on the company’s IT systems to increase transparency and create more flexible and efficient processes in accounting, business management and HR. By digitising business processes and relationships with customers, suppliers, employees, banks and authorities, Sage’s digital network brings SMEs closer together. Businesses gain faster access to relevant information and can run operations more smoothly. Breaking down barriers also means using time, technology and experience to tackle digital and economic inequality as well as the climate crisis. For more information, visit: www.sage.com
